Duchess Frederica Elisabeth Amalie Auguste of Württemberg (27 July 1765 - 24 November 1785) was a daughter of Frederick II Eugene, Duke of Württemberg and Friederike Dorothea of Brandenburg-Schwedt.[1]

Family

Frederica was the seventh child and second daughter of Frederick II Eugene, Duke of Württemberg and his wife Friederike Dorothea of Brandenburg-Schwedt. Among her siblings were King Frederick of Württemberg, Sophia Dorothea, Empress of Russia, and Elisabeth, Archduchess of Austria.

Frederica's paternal grandparents were Karl Alexander, Duke of Württemberg and Maria Augusta of Thurn and Taxis.

Her maternal grandparents were Margrave Frederick William of Brandenburg-Schwedt and Princess Sophia Dorothea of Prussia, sister of Frederick the Great.

Marriage and issue

On 6 June 1781, Frederica married Prince Peter Frederick of Holstein-Gottorp.[1] The marriage was meant to strengthen relations between Russia and Württemberg (Frederica's sister was married to Paul I of Russia, a member of the House of Holstein-Gottorp). They had two children before her death from childbirth on 24 November 1785:

He would succeed his cousin William as Grand Duke of Oldenburg in 1823, years after Frederica's death.
