Biniverse: The First Solo Concert is the inaugural solo concert by the Filipino girl group Bini. The concert series is being held over three days at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City in June 2024. The concert tour will extend to Canada and the USA, with performances scheduled in various cities in Canada and dates for the USA to be announced soon.

Background

On March 6, 2024, during their press conference for their EP, Talaarawan, Bini announced that they will have their first solo concert titled "Biniverse", which will be held at the New Frontier Theater.[1] Tickets went on sale on April 2 and sold out in less than two hours. As a result of the quick sold out, fans clamored for a second day of the concert or a bigger venue,[2] specifically the neighboring Araneta Coliseum. This led to the #WeWantBINIverseInAraneta hashtag becoming a trend on X.[3] Due to public demand, Bini's music label Star Music announced a second day for the concert on April 4,[4] with the third day being announced later on April 8.[5] One of the members of the group said that the third day extension was a gift to their fans for their love and support.[6] Ticket sales for the additional dates went live on April 9, which also sold out in less than two hours.[7]

On June 12, Star Music announced that the concert would make regional stops in July. On July 6, Bini will perform at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio, then on July 14, at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu, and on July 20, at the open grounds of the KCC Mall in General Santos.[8]

Performances

Bini commenced the event with a medley of "Na Na Na," "Lagi," and "I Feel Good," performing for 17 minutes with continuous dancing and singing. The opening production set the tone for the show, demonstrating the group's high energy levels.[9][10] Each member had their solo performances. Mikha and Stacey were the first to perform their solo acts. Mikha played the electric guitar while singing Paramore's "That's What You Get" and then transitioned to Dua Lipa's "Don't Start Now." Stacey performed "Thank U, Next" by Ariana Grande. Following them, Aiah, Maloi, and Sheena presented their performances. Aiah showcased her abilities by dancing, singing, and rapping Doja Cat's "Woman," including a rap part in Bisaya. Maloi combined her love for painting with a performance of Up Dharma Down's "Oo." Sheena showed her skills as the group's main dancer with an energetic routine to Rihanna's "Pour It Up." The final solo performances were by Gwen, Colet, and Jhoanna. Gwen executed a chair dance to Little Mix's "Woman Like Me." Jhoanna performed Sarah Geronimo's "Isa Pang Araw," accompanied by a string quartet. Colet concluded the solo acts with a surprise performance of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love," which elicited a particularly enthusiastic response on Day 1.[11][10] Bini's concert featured multiple wardrobe changes and interactive elements. Their wardrobe choices were designed to enhance their stage presence. Technical issues included Colet dropping her in-ear monitor, Jhoanna losing her microphone sleeve, and Stacey adjusting Aiah's strap, all handled with professionalism.

Balloons were dropped primarily in the SVIP/VIP area during "Huwag Muna Tayo Umuwi," with Maloi prompting fans to pop them, revealing handwritten notes. "Pantropiko" featured large beach balls tossed into the audience, creating a festive atmosphere.

The emotional performance of "8," from their debut album "Born to Win," included fan-held signs expressing support. They also performed a subdued version of "Born to Win" and an acoustic rendition of "Strings" from their "Feel Good" EP. The group expressed gratitude to their supporters and families, with Mikha acknowledging her brother Enzo, and Sheena spending time with her grandmother after photos.

Aiah's parents, Malou and Dick, attended from Cebu, proud of her balancing studies and career. Stacey's mother, Ivy, attended in pink attire, expressing pride in Bini's achievements. Colet and Gwen thanked their families, who traveled from Bohol and Bicol respectively.

Despite Gwen battling a cold, she finished the show professionally and received medical attention afterward.[11][12] The highlight of the first night of the three-night event was the performance of their new single, "Cherry on Top", which is scheduled for official release on July 11. The single was well-received by the sold-out audience at the New Frontier Theater. Additionally, Bini presented a brief teaser of the "Cherry on Top" music video following their performance.[13][14] The concert concluded with "Pantropiko", the song that significantly contributed to the group's rise to fame.[10]

Livestream

On June 18, the online streaming platform iWantTFC announced that the third day of the concert will be streamed on their platform.[15] This decision was made to accommodate the high demand and to reach Bini's international fanbase.[16]

Expansion to North America

On May 30, Star Music announced that the Biniverse concert will extend to Canada and the USA. The Canadian leg of the tour will begin in Vancouver on August 9, followed by Edmonton on August 10, Winnipeg on August 16, and Toronto on August 17. The dates for the USA leg are yet to be announced.[17][18][19]

Reception

The concert has received positive reviews from both fans and critics, praising the group's performance and stage presence.[20][21][22][23]
