This is because Ayn Rand vehemently rejected the libertarian political movement in her day and strongly condemned libertarianism and demanded that she not be lumped in with them. Furthermore, Rand's influence and popularity extends beyond the American Libertarian movement (though she is obviously still a heterodox figure). Many people enjoy her novels but reject her political ideas. undo
